How did you get you involved in MMA?
I was training boxing for a year and a half and I wanted to learn more... A friend of mine reached out to me and said they had muay thai at a gym nearby and there was going be a grand opening and we should go. I got fired up immediately and had to go. Once I took my first class I was obsessed! I needed to learn more and the passion and drive took over from there!
You moved your life from Minnesota to California to chase a dream, touch on that move and how it has been.
Moving to California from Minnesota was a no brainer. I got in contact with my manager Jason House and he knew of a fighter house that had one more spot and as soon as I got the go ahead from him and Coach Colin I took massive action and planned the trip in 3 weeks, packed my car up, and got out here. It's been a huge blessing coming down here cause my focus is completely on my passion every day. You cant skip practices and you better be ready when you're there cause it's a grind. The discipline is amazing because it keeps you growing and accountable. The team and family atmosphere is incredible! I'm blessed and grateful for every day out here.
What makes a fighter great?
I think what makes a great fighter is the passion and desire to want to be teachable, trainable, and coachable constantly. I say a prayer that sets a reset switch on my brain every morning and it's to set aside everything I think I know and be open and willing to learn more. It takes a certain kind of person to be sore, tired, hungry, and beat up and set that aside and get in the gym and train hard every day. It takes a certain spirit and belief in oneself to recognize this is dangerous, this is scary, and there's so many outcomes that can happen, but I'm going to win and become the greatest to ever do it. You have to have the right mindset and know what it is that you want as a fighter.
One bit of advice for young athletes chasing dreams
If I was gonna give any advice I would suggest getting around the people who are the best at what you're striving to do. Study them, mimic them, and outwork them. Be hungrier, more tenacious, and more willing to get the job done. Most importantly learn from them. You have to measure yourself on a scale of 1-10 every moment of every day when learning and say "how willing am I to learn?" & "how willing am I to accept change?"
Why did you choose Fueled Supplements?
I chose Fueled Supplements because of the knowledge Josh has had in the supplement game and his belief in his products and what he does tells me he has done his research and compiled the best recipe for athletes to perform at their best. He can answer any question you have for him and explain the benefits of when, where, and why you should be taking the products to a tee. The products speak for themselves and I feel the difference and it's high quality. I'm blessed and honored to be a part of the team!
